This tuna was marinated just for a few minutes then seared on a very hot grill. This allows the tuna to get a nice sear on the outside and the inside isn't over cooked. I grilled it for about 2 minutes per side, basting with extra marinade. I topped it with a light and fresh avocado salsa!
Here's what you need:
1 cup cherry or grape tomatoes halved
Handful chopped cilantro
1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
Juice of one lime
1/2 t salt
1/4 t pepper
2 avocados diced
2 garlic cloves minced
1 jalapeno seeded and finely chopped
4 T lower sodium soy sauce
4 t honey
4 tuna steaks
Combine the first nine ingredients together in a bowl. Set aside at room temperature. Next, combine the soy sauce and the honey together with a whisk. Lay the tuna steaks in this marinade. Let it marinate it in a few minutes while you get the grill heated to high. When the grill is super hot, place the tuna on the grill. Grill for about 2 minutes per side and baste both sides with the marinade. Serve the tuna with the avocado salsa. Delish!
